It’s time to plan for . . .

Jewels of Portugal Bike Tour–October 18-30, 2021 

Want to join several members of FCC’s Mid-Week Morning ride group for a remarkable 13-day bicycle tour of Central Portugal? Sure, you do! Al Graves and Liz Pianetta are spearheading this first-class venture set for October 18-30, 2021—Covid-19 permitting, of course! 

On November 1, Al and Liz will be securing the date for this trip by providing $500 down payments to Portugal Bike Tours; shortly thereafter two others in the Club will be sending in their down payments. Once that is done, the dates are ours! When we have a total of 6 committed to the trip, we will all be given a 10% discount on the cost of the tour. Better yet, when we have total of 12 persons committed to the trip, we will be given a 15% discount! OMG. Even better, though, is the fact than the total number of trip participants is maxed at 14, making for a perfectly sized group for riding, dining together and achieving reservations. 

What to expect? Get ready to ride a bunch. For 9 out of 11 days, you will average 45 miles and 3,000 feet of climbing per day. Gotta get in shape for that! Plus, you will be invited to participate in 6 guided tours—all included in the tour price. So, what is included in the tour price? Virtually everything except airfare: Total support, including two Portuguese-speaking guides, one of whom will be riding a bike along with you; 12 breakfasts, 10 dinners and all the snacks you can eat during the day; excellent lodging, including one 14th century former Monastery and one 12th century former convent. A top quality carbon road bike, helmet and pedals are all provided.

What is the cost of the tour? For fewer than six participants, the cost/person is 3,960€; for 6-11 participants the cost drops to 3,560€; for 12-14 participants the cost drops to 3,366€. Our goal is to have at least 6 committed participants before the end of 2020.
