The Grizzly Century returns for 2017, on Saturday, October 7th! But it will be different this year....

This is a Fresno Cycling Club sponsored CLUB ride. There is no ride fee, and there will be very limited support available. Riders should plan on being as self-supported as possible. Non-FCC members must sign waiver at the start. This is a challenging Strong B/C/D ride. Roll out at 8 am from the North Fork Elementary School at 33087 Road 228, North Fork, CA 93643. There are two options:

  1. THE GRIZ (100 miles) Over 10,000 foot elevation gain. Pass Mile High Vista, Jackass Rock, Arch Rock, the red fir forests of Cold Springs Summit, speedily descend to Bass Lake and back to North Fork.
  2. THE METRIC CENTURY (100k = 63 miles) A 5,000 foot elevation gain. North Fork to Mile High Vista and back. Tremendous views of conifer forests, rock formations, and the high Sierra.

Both of the routes are the same as the traditional Grizzly Century. We encourage you to print and bring a copy of the route map, or ride with someone who is familiar with the route.

Do not underestimate the challenge of this ride....especially THE GRIZ. Riders should plan on carrying the nutrition and water they need to complete the event...... Jones' Store, Bass Lake Market and The Forks at Bass Lake should all be open.....but these are toward the end of the ride. Please plan accordingly. There will be some water available along the route from a SAG vehicle.

Greg Schoonard and Dennis Ball will be two of the ride leaders. Jan Schoonard will drive the SAG vehicle and can be reached, where there is cell service, at 559 676 5178.
