Our slate of upcoming bicycling events is as follows. (Unfortunately because of the pandemic restrictions not being lifted until last month, we have had to push all our events into the later summer and early fall). Keep an eye on the FCC Website for any updates to this schedule.
TOUR DE LAKES
Our first Club event this year is coming up this month on July 31, 2021. During the pandemic last year, this was the only event we were able to put on. So now that the pandemic has subsided we are excited to hold the event again this year. I hope you are ready for some challenging riding. The cool thing about this ride is its flexibility: there are several options to the ride. The options include:
- the long ride to Courtwright Reservoir and the medium ride to Wishon Dam, both starting at the Dinkey Creek Road park-and-ride, or nearby parking.
- There is also the option to start at Dinkey Creek Bridge to do a short ride to McKinley Grove, or the longer ride to Wishon.
- You could even do the Courtwright ride from Dinkey Creek Bridge.
Everyone who rides this event needs to be cautious and courteous while riding. The Dinkey Creek and McKinley Grove roads can be busy with traffic. Don’t bunch up on the road, and be sure to ride single-file when cars are present. Remember you can take the lane if it is too dangerous to share the lane. Be sure to be visible.
While this ride is free to all members, we ask that everyone register to do the ride, so we can determine how many riders to plan for. For more information or to Register, click here: Fresno Cycling Club - 2021 FCC TOUR DE LAKES for members
The Grizzly Century is slated for Saturday October 2, 2021. Registration will open on July 4th at noon. FCC will be teaming up with the North Fork Community to put on this great event.
This will be the 26th year of the Grizzly (having missed last year). Much of the route has been burnt by fires over the past several years, most recently by the Creek Fire last year. Although there has been a lot of the forest lost along the route, on a positive note the route is still as challenging as it has always been, and has actually opened up more views of the surrounding mountains.
This year we are excited to be adding a whole new route to the Grizzly Century Rides. For those who love gravel riding and want to switch it up, this will be a Gravel Grinder up Central Camp Road to Cold Springs Summit, then back down gravel roads to Beashore near Bass Lake, then around the Lake and back to North Fork, making it a Metric Century which will be approximately 32 miles gravel and 30 miles paved.
