The Prez Sez:

Greetings Bicycling Club Members and Friends!

THE PANDEMIC CONTINUES

We are now going into the fifth month of this unprecedented pandemic brought on by Covid-19. As we navigate how to continue riding our bikes to get exercise and stay in shape, we find ourselves trying to do small group rides so as to comply with government protocols. If we keep our groups smaller, or at least practice good social distancing, it seems to help avoid anyone being exposed to the virus. Keep up these practices, social distancing, and maintaining small groups, and we should be able to get through this with minimal exposure.

TOUR DE LAKES

We finally got to have our first organized ride of the year. Using established Covid-19 protocols, Ride Director Gia Parker and her great group of volunteers were able to put on a great ride for our club members. There were some 150+/- riders who got to enjoy a beautiful mild mid-summer day on the ride between Shaver Lake to Wishon Dam and Courtwright Reservoir. This annual members-only ride has been going on for a number of years now and it rarely disappoints. We are thankful that we were able to provide a great ride for our members. Everyone had been anxious to get out on an organized ride, since we have had to cancel all the rides thus far.

We'll be adding more photos from this event to the FCC website, fresnocycling.com

SS LAKE DOUBLE CENTURY

The Bass Lake Double Century sadly has been rescheduled for Oct 9th, 2021. It was cancelled for 2020 due to Covid-19 concerns and the safety of our riders and volunteers.

THE ANNUAL GRIZZLY CENTURY in North Fork

At the time of this writing, the Grizzly is still being scheduled for Saturday Oct 3, 2020. Registration will open this month. Due to Covid-19 issues, the event will have certain protocols that will be followed.

THE CLUB DAILY RIDE CALENDAR

If you’re looking for rides, be sure to check out the FCC Ride Calendar. We have various Ride Groups having rides to help you get out and get some exercise, and keep those riding legs, heart and lungs in shape.

That is all I have for now. Stay safe and healthy. Ride safe and ride legal.

See you on the road.

The Prez,  Dennis Ball

KIRCH FLAT

The Kirch Flat Century, which had been rescheduled to September 5th, has been cancelled for the year. It will be scheduled for its regular time next year, on May 1, 2021. All entry fees will be refunded to those who had registered.

Local Bike Shops and Other Friends

PLEASE BE SURE TO DOUBLE-CHECK HOURS OF OPERATION

For many of us, eating and riding are the two major things in life.  We all rely on and support our local bike shops.  These are the people dedicated to making sure that we can all safely enjoy what we do.  A few local restaurants and other supporters go out of their way to accommodate cyclists.  Please be sure to support these folks, and tell them you are an FCC Member!
