Tollhouse Century-100 Miles/8,000’

Wildcat to Sierra Elementary
Upon leaving the Wildcat Rest Stop, Century riders will continue straight on Maxon Road for an 8 mile out and back to a turn around in front of the Trimmer Work Center station. They will then turn right on Watts Valley Rd. and continue up Burrough Valley to the Sierra School rest stop.

Terrain:  Hilly, very scenic along Maxon Rd.

Traffic:  Light

Caution:  Wildcat descent in narrow and twisty, Maxon Rd. is narrow with cattle guards, cattle, and you know what else.

Sierra Elementary to Tollhouse Water Stop
The fun begins! Starting with a 7-mile climb up the OLD TOLLHOUSE GRADE.  This climb starts off steep, gets a little easier, and then just grinds on forever. Pitches up to 13%

Traffic:  very light

Caution:  Narrow road with blind corners.  STAY in your lane, SINGLE FILE

Tollhouse Water Stop to Bald Mountain Fire Dept Lunch Stop
The last ½ mile from the water stop to HWY 168 is STEEP. Century riders will cross over the highway and continue a gentle climb then descent to the Bald Mountain Fire Department lunch stop. Look over your right shoulder along this stretch to catch glimpses of the high Sierra and the San Joaquin River water shed. Please do not go to Shaver Lake for lunch. 

Bald Mountain Fire Dept Lunch Stop to Millerton Store Rest Stop
After lunch, you will descend through scenic forests before making the long descent into Auberry. (WATCH THE CORNERS!) After traveling through this quaint foothill town, you will rejoin the metric riders in route to the Millerton Store before finishing in Clovis.
Terrain:  Hilly, mostly descending with some rollers along the way.

Traffic:  Moderate to heavy, especially the short stretch along Hwy. 168 before Prather

Caution:  Watch the hairpin turns on the descent after lunch. Be sure exit Hwy. 168 in Prather by staying right, heading towards Millerton Lake

Millerton Store Rest Stop to Clovis High
After being spoiled with cold towels and ice cream at Millerton Store, it’s time to get back on the bike and head for home. Fresno County recently completed a bike lane along Auberry Rd. so riders won’t be in the same lane as the motor homes and trucks hauling boats. Follow the signs and arrows for a fast trip back to CHS.

Terrain:  Rollers then flat, usually a headwind along Auberry Rd. in the afternoon

Traffic:  Heavy

Caution:  Stay single file in the bike lane along Auberry Rd. Use caution on the left turns coming back to the High School
