Millerton Metric-67 Miles/3,500’
Wildcat to Sierra Elementary
Upon leaving the Wildcat Rest Stop, Metric riders will descend for 4 miles before turning left and continuing on Watts Valley Rd. and continuing up Burroughs Valley to the Sierra School rest stop.
Terrain: Hilly, narrow descent on backside of Wildcat, gentle 2 mile climb up to Burroughs Valley
Traffic: Light
Caution: Wildcat descent in narrow and twisty. Sporadic curb and gravel through Burroughs Valley, sometimes a lose dog. Descent to Tollhouse road is steep and twisty, ride within your limits.
Sierra Elementary to Millerton Store
Metric riders will turn left when leaving the Sierra Elementary School. They will climb the rollers along Lodge Road. If one looks to the right, they may see riders climbing Old Tollhouse Road.
Terrain: Rollers, nothing too long or too steep
Traffic: Moderate along Lodge Road, heavier along Hwy. 168 and Auberry Roads.
Caution: Lodge Road and Hwy. 168 do not have shoulders, ride single file, and stay right. Traffic moves very quickly along these roads. TAKE the Auberry Rd. / Millerton Lake exit in Prather (bears right off of Hwy 168). DO NOT go down Morgan Canyon on Hwy. 168.
Millerton Store to Clovis High
Popsicles and cold towels await riders at the Lymphoma and Leukemia sponsored rest stop at the Millerton Store. More rollers await riders but the path to the finish is mostly downhill, sometimes with a tailwind, more often with a headwind. Fresno County recently completed a bike lane along Auberry Rd. so riders won’t be in the same lane as the motor homes and trucks hauling boats. Follow the signs and arrows for a fast trip back to CHS.
Terrain: Rollers, mostly a gentle downhill until Crybaby Hill and the Friant-Kern canal
Traffic: Moderate to heavy but riders will enjoy the newly constructed bike lane.
Caution: Follow the route sheet and course marking, ride single file, and stay right.
